This murine monoclonal antibody is specific for VZV GP63 and shows a nuclear staining in infected cells. No cross-reactivity with other Herpesviridae. In immunocompromised patients (AIDS, or graft recipients). Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and Herpes simplex virus (HSV) can be responsible for disseminated infections and vesicles which often are difficult to distinguish and sometimes atypical. Since the antiviral treatment with Zovirax® is more efficient on HSV (10 to 20 times) than on VZV, it is useful to differenciate HSV from VZV. SEE ALSO CONTROL SLIDES.
